Austin’s population growth has caused real estate prices and property taxes to spike. Many Black and Latinx residents are being squeezed out of their homes and businesses. In an effort to preserve neighborhoods, FUSE will work with the Economic Development Department and the community to push traditional boundaries around redevelopment. By developing and implementing new policies and tools, Austin will promote affordable and sustainable communities that combat gentrification and displace as few residents from their homes as possible.
