MOHAMMED KHAN is a skilled deal maker, lawyer, tech entrepreneur, corporate advisor, and venture capitalist. He has more than 25 years of experience starting, nurturing, investing in, advising, and exiting a variety of high technology, information, and telecommunications companies in Silicon Valley and tech hotspots around the world. Among his accomplishments, Mohammed is the founder and managing director of Nexxus Ventures, a venture capital fund that invests in disruptive technology companies. A corporate and intellectual property lawyer by training, he also worked as corporate counsel in legal and business development roles for Microsoft and what is now BMC Software. Mohammed earned a B.A. in mass communications and journalism from San Jose State University, an MBA from the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University, and a J.D. from U.C. Hastings Law, San Francisco.
Oakland is addressing digital inequities and seeks to advance existing and new, sustainable recommendations that connect low-income, at-risk, and underserved residents to digital services. To support these efforts, Oakland is partnering with FUSE Executive Fellow Mohammed Khan to create a comprehensive plan for citywide broadband that includes sustainable funding, closing the digital divide.
