Over the last five years, the City of Houston experienced six federally-declared natural disasters. In the wake of those devastating storms, the city received $1.3 billion in federal housing recovery assistance, which represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest strategically in affordable housing infrastructure. FUSE will work with the Housing and Community Development Department to ensure that disaster funds better meet the needs of historically underserved communities. Using data analytics and long-term business intelligence strategies, FUSE will help direct major public sector investments to increase housing equity.
