Creating a Strategic Plan to Broaden Economic Prosperity
Kansas City has enjoyed a renewal in recent years, with billions of dollars transforming its downtown. But not all neighborhoods in the metropolitan area have seen their fortunes rise. Now the mayor and city leaders want to refocus economic development to be more inclusive and align their strategies with other key objectives, such as increasing affordable housing, promoting work development, and improving support for entrepreneurs, especially those from underserved communities. To achieve these goals, the Office of the Mayor has determined it needs a new strategic plan.
To support this work, the Office of the Mayor is partnering with FUSE executive fellow LaDonna Gooden to spearhead the creation of the strategic plan. Based on her reviews of existing initiatives, LaDonna is making detailed recommendations for new projects and programs. LaDonna will also oversee the initial implementation of these strategies, helping Kansas City support innovation and entrepreneurship, broaden economic prosperity, and strengthen all of its communities.
