Raising Funds for Green Spaces

The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has been working to broaden funding sources for expanded community services. To that end, FUSE executive fellow Feza Sanigok helped research and evaluate current and potential revenue models, creating a plan for new revenue generation. Feza is now helping implement the new plan, including monitoring and adjusting priorities, creating financial dashboards, and launching pilot projects. He is also helping create a DPR Business Development Group, recommending a long-term plan for its recruitment, training, and staffing. Additionally, Feza is supporting a range of internal activities, such as reviewing fees and charges and creating online tools to enhance operations. By adding new revenue streams, DPR can offer more diverse, accessible, and equitable activities and programs to residents, while reducing its dependency on county funds for maintenance and expansion of services and operations.
